iScan specifications
Bead-based microarray technology
The iScan System uses Illumina microarray technology for a broad range of DNA analysis applications. Each Illumina array, or BeadChip, is covered with hundreds of thousands of copies of specific oligos that act as the capture sequence for specific loci in the genome. When excited by a laser, the nucleotide label emits a signal. The intensity of that signal conveys information about the allelic ratio at that locus.
