Analysis surrounding DNA methylation (DNAm) data is growing at an exponential pace. For instance, the number of Epigenome-Wide Association Studies (EWAS) per year has tripled since 2016. In addition to having a much higher focus from research and biotech communities, data is also becoming more available as more researchers and biobanks commit to doing analysis on the low cost but high yield DNA methylation array platforms. However, methods to quickly analyze this data are still limited and not widely available.

Ryan Smith is a co-founder of TruDiagnostic, an epigenetic testing company. Ryan received his BA in biochemistry from Transylvania University before heading to medical school in 2013. After passing USMLE Step 1, he opened a pharmacy in the United States focusing on peptide synthesis and formulations for pharmaceutical preparations. His pharmacy, Tailor Made Compounding, became the 4th fastest growing company in US healthcare and grew to 9 digits in yearly revenue within 3 years. In 2020, Ryan exited Tailor Made to found TruDiagnostic. TruDiagnostic is a CLIA certified lab and health data company which specializes in understanding and reporting insights found through epigenetic methylation data. Since its conception in 2020, TruDiagnostic has created the largest private epigenetic database in the world with over 75,000 patients tested. From this dataset, they have designed many innovative algorithms to interpret methylation data including algorithms to predict inflammatory markers, disease diagnosis, telomere length, aging pace, immune cell subsets, cellular replication, and much more. TruDiagnostic also offers software that enables labs and researchers all over the world to collect and integrate DNA methylation tools into their work. |

Reiko Fujiwara is a member of the Illumina Product Marketing team, representing and managing core library preparation kits and microarray portfolio for the Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) region. Over 15 years, she had held several roles in the technical support and marketing in biotechnology industry within Japan after receiving a master's degree in biology from Kyoto University.
